We are encouraging applications for a full-time professional research assistant that will be supported by an NIH-funded grant over multiple years to investigate the neurogenetics of opioid use disorder.

Who We Are

The Bachtell Lab utilizes rodent behavioral paradigms together with pharmacological, molecular, and cellular approaches to gain an understanding of the neurobiological basis of addictive disorders. We are particularly interested in identifying endogenous and exogenous factors that increase an individual’s vulnerability to developing substance use disorders. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Conduct laboratory behavioral experiments in rodents, molecular/cellular biology experiments in tissue samples, manage/analyze databases, maintain laboratory equipment, maintain supply inventories, and supervise/train others in the laboratory.

What You Should Know

Individuals should expect to receive training on any skill deficiencies, and it is encouraged that the successful candidate will learn and/or develop new techniques when vital. It is encouraged that the individual work well independently and as part of a team. This is a full-time position that will involve working outside of normal workday hours and some weekend hours.

The salary range is $30,000-$34,000.

What We Require

A Bachelors degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, Psychology, or related field. Applicants with degree specialization in neuroscience is preferred.

What We Would Like You to Have

* Prior laboratory research experience is desired, especially experience relevant to working in a neuroscience field. * Applicants with experience in rodent surgical and/or behavioral procedures will be prioritized. Experience in the following technical approaches is also desirable: western blotting, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, RNA isolation, and quantification in ex vivo tissue samples.
